À propos de cet atelier

From Simulation to Autonomy. Master Single-Drone Systems

This intensive, hands-on workshop provides a comprehensive introduction to autonomous drone development using the PX4 Autopilot ecosystem, MAVSDK Python API, and MAVLink communication protocol. Over five days, participants progress from foundational UAV architecture concepts to production-ready autonomous flight systems.

What You Will Learn

Day 1. Foundations & Environment Setup: Understand the architecture of modern Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), including vehicle frame types (multicopters, fixed-wing, VTOL, helicopters, rovers), autopilot systems, flight controller hardware (Pixhawk, FMU/IO architecture), sensor suites (gyroscope, accelerometer, magnetometer, barometer, GPS), and the Dronecode ecosystem. Set up a complete development environment with Docker, PX4 SITL simulation, and QGroundControl.

Day 2. Flight Modes, Control Theory & Python Asyncio: Explore PX4 flight mode categories (Manual, Assisted, Autonomous, Offboard), arming/disarming procedures, safety systems and failsafes (low battery, RC loss, geofencing), coordinate systems (NED, body frame), and reference frames. Configure MAVSDK Python, master async/await patterns, asyncio.run(), asyncio.gather(), and concurrent task management for drone applications.

Day 3. MAVSDK Programming & Mission Fundamentals: Master core MAVSDK concepts including system discovery, connection management, the Telemetry plugin (position, attitude, battery, GPS, flight mode), and the Action plugin (arm, disarm, takeoff, land, RTL). Program autonomous missions with waypoints, camera actions, and mission progress monitoring. Generate survey grid patterns, circular patterns, and read missions from files programmatically.

Day 4. Offboard Control & Custom Flight Patterns: Implement real-time offboard control with position setpoints in NED coordinates, velocity commands in body and local frames, and smooth trajectory generation. Build advanced flight patterns including circular patrols, figure-8 maneuvers, dynamic target following, spiral ascent/descent, and custom parametric trajectories. Understand setpoint update rates (10–50 Hz), dead-man switch safety, and safe offboard mode transitions.

Day 5. Production-Ready Development & Integration: Apply production engineering practices including comprehensive error handling, retry logic with exponential backoff, connection loss recovery, GPS/sensor failure handling, and timeout management. Design flight state machines, implement automated pre-flight checks, and build structured logging and telemetry recording systems. Add battery monitoring with auto-RTL, geofencing, and emergency stop procedures. Organize code for deployment with configuration management, testing strategies, and documentation standards.
